Transit-Related Updates Related To Extreme Cold

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A look at transit-related changes related to Tuesday's and Wednesday's extreme cold front:

TRAINS
- The Metropolitan Transportation Authority announced that planned overnight work on the G line has been suspended on Monday and Tuesday so that straphangers won't have to stand outside to wait for shuttle buses.

Meanwhile, several subway lines that usually run express were making local stops beginning Monday night due to the cold.

In Brooklyn, southbound B trains were running local from Prospect Park to Brighton Beach; A trains were running local between Euclid Avenue to Hoyt-Schermerhorn Street in both directions; southbound D trains were running local from Atlantic Avenue to 36th Street, and southbound N trains were running local from Atlantic Avenue to 59th Street.

In Manhattan, southbound Q trains were making local stops between 57th Street-Seventh Avenue and Canal Street.

And Between Manhattan and the Bronx, northbound D trains were running local from 145th Street to Bedford Park Boulevard.

- NJ TRANSIT will cross-honor all tickets Tuesday and Wednesday. Rail station buildings and waiting rooms will remain open, including evenings and overnight, through Thursday. Click here for more info. Click here for more info.

- Amtrak will operate a modified schedule on the Northeast Corridor between Washington and Boston, as well as the Empire Line between New York City and Albany on Tuesday. Acela Express and Northeast Regional service will operate between Boston and Washington, though passengers should expect reduced frequencies. Service will operate on the Empire Line between New York City and Albany as well, with some reduced frequencies. Click here for more info.

FLIGHTS
- More than 1,100 flights have been canceled nationwide for Tuesday. In an effort to catch up with dozens of weather-related delays and cancellations, JetBlue suspended operations at 5 p.m. Monday. Operations will begin to ramp up again at 10 a.m. Tuesday, and the airline expects to be fully operational by 3 p.m. Tuesday. American Airlines says it's offering travelers the option to change their flights without penalty if traveling to, through or from certain airports. PARKING
New York City has suspended alternate side parking regulations for Tuesday. Payment at parking meters will remain in effect.

FERRIES
The Haverstraw-Ossining ferry was suspended Monday night and could be suspended Tuesday.
