Talk About A Buzz! Red Sox-Yankees Game Delayed By Bees
TAMPA, Fla. (CBSNewYork/AP) — A spring training game between the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees created a buzz.
No, not that kind of buzz.
The game was delayed for seven minutes heading into the bottom of the third inning Tuesday because of a swarm of bees in left field. This wasn't just a few. We're talking about a massive swarm, here.
Red Sox left fielder Mike Carp walked toward the infield to point out the situation to umpires at Steinbrenner Field, and they called out the grounds crew to address the matter.
Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira brought out some honey in an effort to eradicate the swarm. Why he had honey in the dugout, we'll never know.

The grounds crew received a large cheer from the fans, who were told to be patient during the stoppage.
Game delayed by bees. Seriously. Guarantee Joe Girardi is making Tommy Boy jokes in the dugout.

Nearly 2 hrs for 4 1/2 innings of Yankees-Red Sox. That's about right. 8-0 NY. Serious lack of buzz here. Except for those bees of course.

After the removal process, New York's Francisco Cervelli tripled to deep left.
