Shared Electric Moped Service Rolls Into Brooklyn

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- New York's first shared electric moped service is set to launch in Brooklyn.

Starting Monday, riders who take the Revel Transit training course can pick up one of 70 e-mopeds throughout Brooklyn, Greenpoint, and Williamsburg.

Users can take them up to 50 miles on a single charge, as long as they don't go on highways or bridges. There a one-time $25 fee and then it's $4 for the first 20 minutes and 25 cents for every minute after that.

To sign up, you need to be 21 with a regular drivers license and a good driving record.

If the service is successful, the company launching it hopes to expand to the rest of the city.
