Repairs Could Slow NJ TRANSIT Trains

METUCHEN, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Some NJ TRANSIT riders might want to brace for a longer commute for much of December.

Track reapirs on the railroad service's Northeast Corridor could slow down commutes. Beginning Tuesday, Amtrak will replace concrete ties near Metuchen Station.

NJ TRANSIT says passengers heading to Newark and New York City should expect delays of up to 15 minutes through Dec. 21. The work is expected to end by Dec. 22.

Eastbound passengers at Metuchen will use special platform extensions to board trains.
