Police Release Photo Of Suspect After Detective Is Shot With BB Or Pellet Gun In Queens
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Friday identified a suspect two days after an NYPD detective was shot in the head by a BB or pellet gun in Jamaica, Queens.
It all unfolded just after 5 p.m. Wednesday. Police said a plain-clothes detective was driving an unmarked car with a plainclothes sergeant in the passenger seat. They were on patrol and about to turn left on 168th Street when the shooting happened.
Police said the driver's side window was open. They believe he was struck by a BB or pellet gun, perhaps fired from a passing vehicle.
The injured officer was taken to Jamaica Hospital Center for treatment.
Late Friday, police said they believe the gun was fired by the passenger of a passing 2015 Nissan Altima, with Missouri license plate YH4H3T, which was headed east on Jamaica Avenue at the time. The suspect was described as being about 20 years old, police said.
Police have released a photo of the suspect.
