Police Shoot, Kill Pit Bull While Trying To Arrest Man In Brooklyn

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police shot and killed a pit bull late Tuesday afternoon while they were trying to arrest a suspect in East New York, Brooklyn.

Around 5:15 p.m., police went to a home at 350 Montauk Ave. in Brooklyn to arrest a man, the NYPD told 1010 WINS.

The suspect was inside the home and released a pit bull, police said.

The dog bit one of the officers somewhere on the body, and the officer then shot and killed the dog, police said.

The man in the house was arrested, and the injured officer was taken to Jamaica Hospital Center with minor injuries, police said.
