LI Woman Faces Animal Cruelty Charges Over Starving Pit Bull

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - A Long Island woman faces animal cruelty charges after a severely malnourished dog was brought to an animal rescue group.

Madison Cammarata of East Patchogue faces charges after Duncan, a 7-year-old Pit Bull, was brought to the Guardians of Rescue group.

The Guardians of Rescue called the Suffolk County SPCA, saying that Duncan appeared to be starving.

A veteran determined that Duncan had "foreign objects" in his stomach.

Due to Duncan's poor condition and prognosis, he was immediately euthanized, Suffolk County SPCA Chief Roy Goss said.

Cammarata is due back in court in September.
