Elderly Pedestrian Struck By MTA Bus In Lower Manhattan

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A pedestrian was struck by a Metropolitan Transportation Authority bus Wednesday evening in Lower Manhattan.

The accident happened at the intersection of Pearl and Fulton streets, CBS2 reported.

The elderly woman was rushed to Bellevue Hospital Center in critical condition, 1010 WINS reported.

Taylor Williams, who is visiting from South Carolina, was having dinner when she heard the commotion.

"We heard the bus. It was honking its horn like, over and over and over again. We didn't know what was going on," Williams said, "and then we came over here across the street, and we saw all the police and Fire Department come over."

Police interviewed the bus driver. No charges were been filed.

The MTA said the bus involved was a X14 Bus, which runs between Midtown and Staten Island.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
