Partial Retaining Wall Collapse Shuts Down Ramp To Major Deegan

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- An exit ramp for the Major Deegan Expressway had to be closed late Thursday after part of a retaining wall collapsed.

The exit ramp from the northbound Cross-Bronx Expressway to the Major Deegan was shut down during the afternoon rush after the brick façade of the retaining wall came down, leaving bricks on the road.

Late Thursday night, the ramp remained closed as the New York State Department of Transportation cleaned up the bricks.

The DOT said once the cleanup is finished and engineers examine the wall, it will release further information on any potential effects for the Friday morning commute.
