Newark Carjacking Victim Released From Hospital; Assailants At Large

NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A 67-year-old man has been released from a hospital after being beaten during a violent carjacking in Newark, authorities said Sunday.

Newark police said the victim was sitting in his car when he was approached by another man on Saturday night.

Authorities said the man initially tried to strike up a conversation with the victim. But three other men soon appeared and assaulted the victim and pulled him out of the car before they drove off.

The man was treated for undisclosed injuries and was released from the hospital on Sunday. His name has not been released.

The four assailants remained at large on Sunday.
