7-year-old boy in Newark shoots himself in the hand, police say
Police in Newark, New Jersey are investigating how a 7-year-old boy got ahold of a gun and shot himself in the hand Monday.
It happened shortly before 11 a.m. at a home on Clinton Place near Irving Avenue.
Police said the gun belonged to a family member.
One of the boy's parents brought him to Newark Beth Israel Medical Center with a gunshot wound to his hand.
No further details were provided, and there was no word on any charges.
