New Jersey Man Says He Was Kicked Off United Flight Because Of His Weight

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A Las Vegas birthday bash turned into a nightmare for one New Jersey man.

Errol Narvaez, 31, of Jersey City said he was kicked off a United Airlines flight to Newark last week after a passenger sitting next to him complained about his weight.

The airline's policy says customers must buy a second seat if they encroach on seats of other passengers, or can't sit with both arm rests lowered.

But the flight was full and Narvaez couldn't buy another seat.

He said he was then kicked off the plane.

"In my head, they were all judging me, like you're being thrown off the plane because of your weight," Narvaez said. "You're being thrown off the plane because you can't fit. That's what I was thinking as I was going down that aisle."

Narvaez said United Airlines has apologized and he was booked on another flight later that day.
