Museum Of Jewish Heritage To Open Center To Examine Anti-Semitism

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Museum of Jewish Heritage is creating an anti-Semitism center to examine the root cause of bigotry.

As WCBS 880's Peter Haskell reported, there are already museums explaining how the Holocaust happened. But this new center will focus on why.

"The 'why' impacts not only Jews," said Abraham Foxman. "The 'why' is hatred."

Foxman will be the director of the new center.

"It will be a place to discuss; to challenge; to comfort," Foxman said, "with more to understand."

The center will have an extensive collection of artifacts documenting anti-Semitism.

The Museum of Jewish Heritage is located at 36 Battery Pl. in the Battery Park City area.
