Sources: Michael Bloomberg Commissions Poll For Possible Presidential Run

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- It looks like former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg is testing the waters for a possible run for president.

According to CNN, Bloomberg commissioned a poll to see how he would do as a third-party candidate.

A source said Bloomberg commissioned the poll after Republican GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump's rise in popularity over the last six months.

Bloomberg served as mayor of New York City for three terms, starting in 2001 and ending in 2013. He was succeeded by current mayor Bill de Blasio.

The findings of the poll were not immediately known.
