Police: Armed Intruders Assault Man, Restrain Woman In 'Targeted' Medford Home Burglary

MEDFORD, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Long Island say a man was injured when three armed men broke into his home early Tuesday morning in Medford.

It happened around 12:30 a.m. at a house on Locust Avenue South.

Police said the men believed to be armed with handguns entered the home, restrained a woman and assaulted a 29-year-man who were inside. They then stole cash, jewelry and other items before fleeing the scene, police said.

The woman was not hurt. The man was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Early Tuesday morning, detectives were seen combing the area, looking through parked cars, the front lawn and inside the home for details or evidence, CBS2's Magdalena Doris reported.

Police said the preliminary investigation indicates that the home was "targeted." So far, there have been no arrests.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652 or anonymously to Crimes Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
