Lyrics Of 2 Unreleased Bob Dylan Songs To Go Up For Auction At Christie's

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- The lyrics of two early unrecorded Bob Dylan songs were set to go on the auction block this week.

Christie's said the typed lyrics being offered Thursday include handwritten annotations.

The auction house said the original 1962 ``Talking Blues," published as "Talkin Folklore Center'' manuscript could fetch $40,000 to $60,000. The ``Go Away You Bomb'' lyrics from 1963 could bring $30,000 to $50,000.

Dylan gave the lyrics to Izzy Young, the founder of the legendary and long-since shuttered Folklore Center on MacDougal Street in Greenwich Village. In a news release, Young said Dylan hung out and listened to records frequently in the Folklore Center.

"At first Dylan seemed like anybody else that came into the store. But I noticed after a while there was something different about him," Young was quoted in a news release. "He would take very goddamn record I had in the store and listen to them. He was the only one that read all those scholarly communist books, as well as all the folk magazines. Anything I had in the store, he would read."

Young produced Dylan's first important concert in New York at the Carnegie Chapter Hall on Nov. 4, 1961.

Dylan wrote ``Talkin'' after Young asked him to write a song about the Folklore Center store.

``Go Away You Bomb'' was written for an unpublished book Young was compiling of anti-nuclear songs. Dylan was working on his legendary "Freewheelin' Bob Dylan" album when he wrote the song.

Sale proceeds will support Young's current venture, the Folklore Centrum in Stockholm, Sweden.
