Suffolk County Officials: Spend Your Summer On Long Island

CEDAR BEACH, N.Y. (CBSNewYork)-- Why go elsewhere for your summer vacation when you can stay on Long Island? That's the message island leaders are sending to the Tri-State area in an effort to increase tourism.

There are so many reasons to spend your summer vacation on Long Island, Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone told WCBS 880's Mike Xirinachs.

"It's home to hundreds of miles of pristine world-class beaches. We have one one of the top ten wine destinations in the world," he said.

And that's just one of the reasons to stay Suffolk and stay Long Island, Bellone said.

The island is already home to 9.1 million visitors around the world, according to Visitor Bureau President Kristen Jarnagin.
