Woman Crashes While Driving Intoxicated With 8-Year-Old Son In Car, Police Say

LEVITTOWN, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A Garden City Park woman faces charges after she crashed while driving intoxicated with her 8-year-old son in the car, police say.

Police said 38-year-old Christine Vitrano was driving east on Hempstead Turnpike near the intersection of Shelter Lane in Levittown around 8:20 p.m. Friday when she got into an accident with another vehicle traveling in the same direction.

Officers determined Vitrano was driving under the influence and placed her under arrest, police said.

She was charged under Leandra's Law with aggravated DWI with a child under 16, along with driving while ability impaired by drugs and endangering the welfare of a child.
