Police: LI Woman Arrested After 1 Killed, 3 Injured In Hit-And-Run

MEDFORD, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) --  A Long Island woman has been arrested for leaving the scene of a crash that killed one person and injured three others.

The accident happened at around 8:20 p.m. Friday in Medford.

Suffolk County police say Kathy Horan, 61, was driving east on Granny Road in her 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe when she hit a group of people who had pulled over due to a minor accident, CBS 880's Sophia Hall reported.

Police say Peter Quoma, 28, of Selden, had gotten out of his car when he was struck and killed by Horan's vehicle.

Two other passengers, a man and a woman, who had remained in Quoma's car were taken to Stony Brook University Hospital and treated for minor injuries, police said. A 58-year-old woman who was standing outside of the car was also treated for serious injuries.

Quoma was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue where he was pronounced dead.

Horan was not injured, and was later arrested on a charge of leaving the scene of an accident without reporting a fatality.

She is scheduled to be arraigned in Islip on Feb. 20.
