Distance runner Eva Casale and U.S. Air Force veteran and hand cyclist Michael Roesch traveled from Manhasset to Brooklyn and Staten Island before ending their 75-mile journey at the 9/11 Memorial in lower Manhattan on Sunday morning, WCBS 880's Kelly Waldron reported.

Casale says she just wants the children who lost loved ones that day to know they're not alone.

"There's other children out there who have actually been through what they have," Casale said.

Roesch says he did it for all of the first responders who served that day.

"It's been more focused on us, the military members, than it has been the people who were there first that fought first for America," Roesch said.

The 'Footsteps for 15' event raised nearly $4,000 for Tuesday's Children, a non-profit which helps the 9/11 community.
