School Bus Collides With NJ TRANSIT Bus, Several Injured

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Authorities were on the scene of a school bus accident in New Jersey Monday morning.

Authorities say the crash happened between a school bus and NJ TRANSIT bus shortly after 9 a.m. on the southbound side of Route 18.

Police say the NJ TRANSIT bus had stopped southbound in the right lane when the yellow bus changing lanes rear-ended it.

"He just stopped to let somebody off and 'boom --' the school bus ran right into it," Isaiah Williams, passenger on the NJ TRANSIT bus, told CBS2's Andrea Grymes.

Chopper 2 was live over the scene:

Police say 15 children were taken to the hospital as a precaution, including a 4-year-old child with a broken leg. Several other adults on the NJ TRANSIT bus were also taken to the hospital.

Police say the school bus was taking children to the Yeshivat Netivot Montessori School in East Brunswick at the time.

The school had no comment on the incident, CBS2 reported.
