All Clear At Penn Station After Evacuation Due To Suspicious Package

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Penn Station was evacuated and trains were halted Thursday evening after reports of a suspicious package.

Officials gave the all clear just before 11 p.m., but trains remained halted, CBS 2 reported.

Police said they were alerted about the suspicious package at 10:13 p.m.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority  trains were going in or out of Penn Station while the investigation was underway.

Long Island Rail Road said around 11:15 p.m. that limited train service had been restored. Subway lines, which were bypassing 34th Street, had resumed with residual delays, the MTA said.
