Man Struck By Car, Killed While Trying To Run Across Bruckner Boulevard In The Bronx

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police said a man was killed when he was hit by a car while trying to run across Bruckner Boulevard in the Bronx.

It happened just before 12:30 a.m. Monday at the intersection of East 149th Street.

Police said the 22-year-old man tried to run across Bruckner Boulevard mid-block and outside of the crosswalk when he was hit by a BMW in the right lane on the westbound side of the inner roadway.

Police are investigating whether the man had just stolen beer nearby before he was hit, CBS2's Jim Smith reported.

The man was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene.

The man's identity has not yet been released.
