Man Charged In 2010 Shooting That Left Man Dead In Bridgeport, Conn.

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (CBSNewYork) -- A man was arrested and charged Friday in connection with a 2010 shooting that left a man dead in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

Bill Ray Jones, now 31, was arrested Friday morning and was charged in the June 21, 2010 homicide of Michael Williams, who was 29 at the time, police said.

Williams was shot in the playground area behind Building 4 of the Charles F. Greene Homes housing complex, police said.

Jones was charged with murder, criminal possession of a firearm, and carrying pistol without permit, police said.

Police and Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch thanked the detectives who worked on the cold case.

"I'm proud of the work our police officers and detectives do every day with the community to keep our kids and families safe," Mayor Finch said in a news release.

Jones' bond was set at $1 million, police said.
