4-Month-Old Boy Found Dead In Midtown Hotel; 2 In Custody

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – A four-month-old boy was found dead in a midtown Manhattan hotel early Saturday morning, and police are questioning two women who were with the child at the time.

Officers responded to a 911 call at the Hotel Pennsylvania, where a worker discovered Dominic Greene unconscious in a public area of the hotel shortly before 1 a.m.

Paramedics arrived and tried unsuccessfully to revive the child. He was rushed to NYU Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Police sources tell CBS2 that Dominic's 24-year-old step-sister and another 26-year-old woman were with Dominic when he was spotted.

Authorities say the child was from Wilmington, Delaware, and it's unclear why and for how long he and the two women were in New York City. The child's mother was not reportedly with them at the time.

Police questioned the two women for hours inside the Manhattan South Precinct, without announcing criminal charges. Investigators were working to find out what they were doing leading up to the child's early morning death. Hotel guest Paula Fitzpatrick says she saw the women and found their behavior odd.

"They looked spaced out," she said, adding they had a heavy blanket covering the boy.

The medical examiner will work to determine how the infant died. Meantime, the woman in custody could be facing multiple charges including child endangerment.
