Sheryl and Dave: The 60 Minutes interview

Dave Goldberg, a prominent Silicon Valley executive, died last week at the age of 47 while vacationing with his family.

Goldberg was an entrepreneur and venture capitalist, who sold his first start-up, LAUNCH Media, to Yahoo before joining SurveyMonkey.com as CEO in 2009. But he was, perhaps, better-known for his 11-year marriage to the chief operating officer of Facebook, Sheryl Sandberg.

The Silicon Valley power couple sat down for a candid 60 Minutes interview in 2013 about life, love, and how they managed to balance two high-powered tech careers in one home.

"It's like having the smartest person in Silicon Valley working at your company, but she just happens to be my wife."

"People think about that sort of indescribable chemistry that you have with somebody-- and we did have it," Goldberg told correspondent Norah O'Donnell in that interview. He also told the story of how the couple met, describing the moment as an "instant connection." Sixteen years after that chance meeting, Sandberg was not only his wife, but also his most trusted advisor in matters of business.

"It's like having the smartest person in Silicon Valley working at your company," said Goldberg, "but she just happens to be my wife."

Since his death, there's been an outpouring of condolences and memories from Silicon Valley elites, friends, and philanthropists who knew him. Goldberg's memorial service took place this week, so 60 Minutes Overtime decided to take a look back at their relationship with an excerpt of their joint interview in the video player above.
