Bandits break into Denver homes...take only food?
DENVER -- A bizarre crime spree has left some Denver homeowners without soda and beef jerky, reports CBS Denver.
Police say there have been three cases in the past two weeks where burglars only stole food after breaking in. Still, they do not believe the cases are connected and have no leads or suspects.
On Sept. 4, one resident came home to find a young boy lounging in her house -- eating food and watching Japanese anime on Netflix. The alleged bandit, described as being 12-years-old and Hispanic, immediately ran out of the house after seeing her.
"He had eaten a bag of beef jerky. There was a box of raisins ... there was just food everywhere," Caroline Palmer told CBS Denver.
She said the boy also helped himself to chewing gun and iced tea -- her cash, credit cards and laptop weren't touched.
On Sept. 8, another home was broken into and the only item stolen? A can of Mountain Dew, homeowner Adam Gosenca told CBS Denver.
That same week, another family found two young men inside their house, reports the station. They ran off with two Hot Pockets still cooking in the microwave.
In all three cases, doors or windows were left unlocked, giving the bandits easy access to the home, according to police. They also have no clear motive for the crimes.
Anyone with information with regards to these cases is asked to call Denver Police Department.
