Azealia Banks gets Twitter account suspended over Zayn Malik comments

Twitter has a line, and Azealia Banks apparently crossed it.

The controversial rapper had her account officially suspended by the social media platform Thursday after a lengthy online battle with former One Direction member Zayn Malik. Banks had gone on a days-long tirade against the British singer, employing racist and homophobic language and eventually earning an actual response from Malik himself.

Malik tweeted at Banks, "Why you been saying nasty things about me? I wasn't talking about you," which only incited her further. She did, however, take a break from her barbs aimed at Malik to get into a separate Twitter spat with 14-year-old Disney Channel star Skai Jackson.

Banks also found herself dropped from a British festival headlining gig next month. After she spent time tweeting pointed responses at Malik, Jackson and the British hip-hop community as a whole, Twitter saw fit to suspend her account.

It didn't take long, however, for Banks to apparently find her way back on to Twitter, taking over another handle and tweeting that she'd "be back" -- assuming that Banks was actually the one tweeting.

The new account also directed fans to her Instagram account, where Banks has been as active and unrepentant as ever.
