Welding Company Worker Killed In Dayton ID'd

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A welding company employee who was killed in a Dayton explosion last Wednesday has been identified.

On Wednesday, July 8, at 9:17 a.m., police say the 37-year-old man was welding on a pontoon float at Crystal Welding when the explosion happened.

When emergency responders arrived, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other injuries.

On Monday, the victim was identified as Andrew James Hente of Osseo by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner. He died from blunt force injuries to the head.

Authorities say the incident was an accident. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Dayton police are investigating.
