State Trooper Involved In Nicollet Co. Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A State Trooper's car was sideswiped in Nicollet County Friday evening.

According to the incident report, around 8:14 p.m. Minnesota State trooper was stopped at a crash scene on the southbound shoulder of Highway 15 in New Ulm.

Police said a Chevrolet Malibu, driven by 58-year-old David Johnson of New Ulm, was traveling southbound, followed by a GMC Yukon, driven by 26-year-old Nathan Jones of Gaylord.

Johnson slowed for the trooper's lights, but Jones slid by Johnson.

Police said as Jones went past Johnson he sideswiped the Malibu. As a result Johnson skidded into the rear of the trooper's squad car.

The trooper was away from his vehicle at the time.

No one was injured during the crash.

The Nicollet County Sheriff's Office and Minnesota State Patrol were at the scene.
