Somali American Task Force Condemns Latest ISIS Video

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Some members of Minnesota's Muslim community are lashing out against a terror recruitment video released on New Year's Day.

"The video that Al Shabaab released is a desperate attempt to instill fear and create hatred between Muslims, Somalis and the mainstream American community," a spokesperson said at the meeting.

The Somali-American Task Force was joined by Imams and other community leaders Monday night. They strongly condemned the message of the video that connected the Minnesota Somali community to extremism.

They accused Al Shabaab of exploiting the African-American civil rights movement in an attempt to create ethnic and religious divides in the United States.

The group also called on political candidates, the media and the general public to turn down the rhetoric that feeds Islamaphobia
