Sheriff: 2 Burned In Sherburne County House Fire

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Two people have been burned -- one severely -- in a house fire Friday morning, according to the Sherburne County Sheriff's Office.

According to Sheriff Joel Brott, residents of the Haven Township home on the 5600 block of 60th Street called 911 just before 9:45 p.m. reporting a fire in the residence.

When emergency responders arrived, homeowner David Shurrum was airlifted to the Hennepin County Medical Center with serious burns while the 17-year-old female victim was treated for minor burns.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but authorities believe the fire started in the basement of the home where family members had been painting.

The house sustained extensive damage.
