Prior Lake Woman Dies In Colorado Hiking Fall

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Prior Lake woman died after falling during a hike in Colorado last week.

According to the Mt. Crested Butte Police Department, 46-year-old Michelle Kartschoke was hiking in Gunnison National Forest last week.

She fell near the summit of Mt. Crested Butte, authorities said, and died last Thursday afternoon as the result of her injuries.

She suffered significant heat and body trauma, the police department reported.

According to reports from Colorado, she was hiking with family members at the time of the incident.

Crested Butte Search and Rescue responded to the scene.

Services for Kartschoke are still pending.
