Illinois Man Killed Running Across I-94 In Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO/AP) -- One person is dead after being hit on I-94 in Minneapolis while running across the freeway early Friday morning.

The State Patrol says Kyle Day, 28, of Springfield, Illinois, was attempting to cross the interstate near 7th Street at around 3 a.m. when he was hit by a Ford Explorer. The SUV, which was carrying two passengers, then rolled after the impact.

Police say Day was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center where he died of multiple blunt force injuries from the accident. The passenger of the SUV suffered non-life threatening injuries, while the driver was not seriously injured.

State Patrol spokeswoman Lt. Tiffani Neilson says it wasn't immediately clear why the pedestrian was on the freeway.
