Herbivorous Butcher Serves Paul McCartney Dinner

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A local vegan butcher shop had the honor of serving dinner to Sir Paul McCartney before his concert in Minneapolis Wednesday night.

So what exactly is a vegan butcher shop? Laura Van Zandt, marketing director for the Herbivorous Butcher, said "meat-free meats and cheese-free cheeses."

Van Zandt says the shop's owners, Aubry and Kale Walch, delivered quite the spread to Paul himself. On the menu was summer sausage, breakfast sausage, two different kinds of ham, a brie cheese and a garlic pepper Havarti. Almonds and pickled asparagus, onions and olives completed the feast.

What did Paul McCartney have for dessert?  A homemade blackberry lavender compote.
