1 Dead After Rush Hour Shooting On Highway 55

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Police in Minneapolis say a man is dead after a shooting and car crash Wednesday afternoon on Highway 55.

Reports of shots fired came in at 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of the highway and Penn Avenue North.

Officers arrived at the scene shortly after and found a man's body. Police say several shell casings and at least one gun were recovered from the scene.

The westbound lanes of the highway were blocked off as more than 20 officers secured the scene and diverted rush-hour traffic.

Police say the shooting involved two groups and appears to be related to the traffic collision, but did not say if the man died from gunshots or from the crash.

Anyone with information on this case is urged to contact Minneapolis Police's tip line at 612-692-TIPS (8477).
