New Brighton Brothers Create Giant Sea Turtle Using Snow

NEW BRIGHTON, Minn. (AP) — Three brothers have continued their annual snow art tradition by building a giant sea turtle in the front yard of their Minnesota home.

Trevor, Austin and Connor Bartz of New Brighton completed their latest snow sculpture measuring 12 feet tall, 37 feet long and 31 feet wide last week. They tell the St. Paul Pioneer Press that they spent about 300 hours working on the sea turtle, which they've named Snappy.

The Bartz brothers say they collected the snow from the backyards of 11 neighbors as well as a nearby tennis court. They say the sea turtle was made entirely by hand.

The brothers have built large-scale sea creatures using snow for the past four years. Past creations include a puffer fish, walrus and shark.
