Missing Woman, 31, Found Dead In Northfield

NORTHFIELD, Minn. (WCCO) – Police in Northfield say a 31-year-old woman who went missing on New Year's Day was found over the weekend dead in the snow.

Tiffany Smith was found deceased Sunday afternoon near a residence on the 400 block of East 3rd Street. She was believed to have been there for a day before being found, and authorities say there were no signs of struggle on her body.

Smith was reported missing on Friday afternoon. A friend of hers told officials that she was upset and hadn't returned home that morning.

Her family was in the process of putting up fliers and setting up searches. Police say they were also involved in the search.

Smith's death remains under investigation. An autopsy is slated to be performed by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office.
