Mix of rain and snow in store for parts of Minnesota

NEXT Weather: 10 p.m. report on March 10, 2026

The first of four snow chances for Minnesota and Wisconsin was expected to hit central Minnesota on Monday night.

Areas by Brainerd Lakes and Duluth may see around 1 inch of accumulation, while other parts could see up to 2 inches. The Twin Cities metro won't see any flurries as temperatures will be above freezing through the night.

Tuesday afternoon will be cloudy in the Twin Cities with temperatures in the low 40s.

A mix of widespread rain and snow will move through parts of the state Tuesday night through Wednesday morning, creating the potential for a slow morning commute. Areas could see between 1 and 2 inches of slushy snow.

Another mix of rain and snow is expected on Thursday, though the track of the system is still uncertain. The most likely outcome, as of Monday afternoon, is a slushy coating along and south of Interstate 94 and up to between 3 and 5 inches of snow in central and northern Minnesota.

Friday will be dry and sunny with a high temperature near 40 degrees.
