Weekend storm system expected to bring freezing rain and snow

NEXT Weather: 4 p.m. forecast from March 28, 2025

Parts of Minnesota will see a few isolated thunderstorms on Friday evening.

Severe thunderstorms were passing through northern and central parts of the state just after 4 p.m.

On Saturday afternoon, a storm system moving through will bring rain before a possible transition to freezing rain and snow. There won't be much accumulation around the Twin Cities metro, but areas to the north may see a few inches of slushy snow.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the metro from 7 p.m. Saturday through 7 p.m. Sunday.

There may be some flurries on Sunday.

Cold and windy conditions are expected throughout the weekend.

Monday will be cool and quiet, with a chance for another storm system on Tuesday.

Tuesday's system will likely bring another round of rain and snow.
