Warm and quite Thursday in Twin Cities, with wet Friday ahead

NEXT Weather: 6 p.m. report for Minnesota on March 5, 2026

Thursday's the calm before Friday's soggy storm in parts of Minnesota, with some fog and low clouds to start the day again.

While the fog won't linger, clouds will limit sunshine — but highs will still warm into the mid 50s in the Twin Cities with a southeast wind.

The metro's next storm arrives late Thursday with rain moving in well after midnight. Showers continue most of Friday with isolated thunder for central and southern Minnesota.

Hail is possible across southeastern Minnesota, with a level-1 risk for severe hail. A half-inch to an inch of rain is expected for the metro southward with less up north.

As colder air wraps in Friday night into Saturday morning, a swath of light snow is possible across central and northern Minnesota. Only 1-2 inches of slushy accumulations are expected.

Sunshine returns Saturday with a slight cooldown into the 40s before making a run at 60 degrees on Sunday.

Early next week starts warm before another system cools us into the 30s midweek. There's some uncertainty with the amount and location of precipitation with that storm.
