Frigid Thursday in Twin Cities ahead of weekend warm-up

MINNEAPOLIS — The Twin Cities are back above zero on Thursday, with sunshine helping temperatures climb close to 10 degrees in the afternoon. However, wind chills stay subzero all day.

Winds pick up out of the south for Friday thanks to another clipper system that will take the metro from near zero in the morning into the 20s, where highs will stay through the weekend.

This will also bring more clouds and a few flurries late Friday through Saturday morning, but it won't amount to much.

High pressure builds back in briefly for Sunday allowing for more sunshine.

The active storm track for more clippers into next week largely stays north of the metro, keeping temps a bit more moderate.

The metro will have a few shots of climbing into the 30s on Monday and Wednesday, with a slightly better chance for light snow late Tuesday, especially up north.
