Quiet Thursday in Twin Cities before windy Friday, weekend cooldown

NEXT Weather: 6 p.m. report for Minnesota on Feb. 27, 2025

The Twin Cities will enjoy a quiet Thursday before strong winds arrive on Friday, and temperatures fall this weekend.

Two weak clippers are the driving forces for some changes heading for the metro to wrap up the week. The first one is too far east to do anything but bring some clouds and breezes. The northwest direction will knock back temps a smidge into the upper 40s on Thursday afternoon.

The second clipper arrives on Thursday night, but any snow will stay confined to the Arrowhead Region.

Friday will be very windy, with gusts up to 50 mph possible in the afternoon. A wind advisory will be in effect for much of Minnesota, including the Twin Cities metro, Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Temperatures will drop into the mid-40s throughout the day behind a cold front. Precipitation chances are low, but it's possible the metro could see a few showers.

High pressure nudges back just in time for the weekend, calming winds and bringing sunshine. Saturday will be cooler, with near-normal temps in the low-to-mid 30s.

A warming trend will take hold on Sunday and Monday with highs reaching the 40s and low 50s.

A more notable storm looks to bring some rain Monday night into Tuesday, before ending as a few snow showers early Wednesday.
