Preview of fall begins Wednesday in Twin Cities as cooler temps arrive
In the wake of Tuesday's front, expect a mostly cloudy, cool and breezy day in the Twin Cities on Wednesday.
Highs struggle to warm into the low 60s with northwest gusts pushing 30 mph at times.
Spotty showers are possible, too, especially across northern Minnesota, but a few could reach the metro later Wednesday afternoon.
Expect a chilly start to Thursday with lows in the 40s in the metro, and 30s for central and northern Minnesota. This will be the metro's coolest morning since May 25.
Another wave of showers will move in later Thursday afternoon and evening, ending by dawn — reinforcing the chill for Friday and bringing more breezy winds. Highs on Friday may not make it out of the 50s.
High pressure moves in just in time for the weekend, bringing more in the way of sunshine and allowing temps to slowly rebound.
Expect highs in the low 60s Saturday and mid 60s Sunday, with skies turning mostly sunny.
Aside from another shower chance on Monday night, next week looks quiet with highs back in the 70s.
