Minneapolis Downtown Ranked As Second Best In US
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) - Downtown Minneapolis's entertainment options, its high percentage of new homeowners, its proximity to lakes and parks and its location on the Mississippi River earned the city the No. 2 spot on a Livability.com list of the top downtown areas in the United States.
The content marketing website, which partners with cities, businesses and economic development organizations, also cited Minneapolis's light-rail line, Skyway system and architectural gems.
"Much of the city's historic core remains in the Gateway District, despite the demolition of several treasured buildings during the 1950s and 60s," the entry reads. "This area hosts some of Minneapolis' best examples of modern architecture, including the Minneapolis Public Library."
Fargo came in No. 7 on the list, while top billing went to Pittsburgh.
