Police: 3 Hospitalized After Car Collides With LRT

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Metro Transit Police say three people were injured after a car collided with a light rail train around 9:15 Saturday night.

It happened near the Stadium Village stop near the University of Minnesota.

Police said a train traveling westbound struck a vehicle. The crash caused a small fire in the vehicle.

The driver of the car was hospitalized. The driver's condition is unknown at this time.

Two other people were taken to Regions Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Green Line service between the Stadium Village and Raymond Avenue stations was  temporarily replaced with a bus.

Around 11:20 p.m., Metro Transit said Green Line trains were once again serving all stations.

The extent of the injuries and cause of the crash are unknown at this time.
