The acronym BPM stands for beats per minute. In terms of working out, the idea is the higher the BPM, the harder you work out!

Some studies show songs that are 150 beats per minute increase performance of the run by 15 percent.

If you're more of a power walker , songs around the 120 BPM range may be for you.

Just had a baby? If you want to get back into walking about three miles an hour, songs with about 110 BPM should help you stay on track.

Experts say before you start any workout you should calculate your own perfect rate.

You can find charts in most gyms, at your doctor's office or ways to figure out for yourself online.
