Sheriff: 1 Dead, 1 Arrested In Freeborn County Shooting

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- One man is dead and another is in custody after a shooting at a state park near Albert Lea, according to the Freeborn County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities were called at about 9:15 p.m. Tuesday by a man who said that he shot another male at Helmer Myre State Park. When officers arrived, they located the suspect and took him into custody.

Officers located the victim at another location in the park with two gunshot wounds to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect and the victim have not been identified. The incident is under investigation by the Freeborn County Sheriff's Office with assistance from the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Albert Lea Police Department.
