Eden Prairie Police Investigating String Of Similar Burglaries

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Police in the southwest metro are currently investigating a series of similar burglaries.

According to Eden Prairie police, five burglaries have occurred in the city since Sept. 1. Each burglary was committed when the residences were empty.

On Sept. 4, a house on the 10000 block of Liatris Lane was burglarized sometime between 12:30 p.m. and 8:38 p.m. The burglar or burglars forced the front door open and took money and jewelry from a bedroom, police said.

That same day, officers responded to an alarm at a home on the 9000 block of Gristmill Lane at 9 p.m. The front door was forced open, but nothing was taken, police said.

Sometime between Sept. 2 and Sept. 5, someone forced open the rear patio door of a home on the 12000 block of Jasper Lane. Just like in the Sept. 4 burglary, jewelry and money were taken from a bedroom, according to police.

Sometime in a span of one week beginning Sept. 1, the front door of a home on the 11000 block of Germaine Terrace was forced open. Police said thieves took jewelry and silver kitchenware from a bedroom and office.

The final reported burglary occurred on Sept. 9. Suspects entered through an unlocked front door and took prescription pain medications, police said.

Detectives believe these incidents could be related, and are possibly related to similar incidents in neighboring communities.
