Strawberry Season Begins Early For Parts Of Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Strawberry fans will be pleased to hear the season is starting early in parts of Minnesota!

Many growers in southern Minnesota and the metro area have reported fields full of blossoms and even reddening berries.

Farmers expect a good crop, thanks to a mild winter and an adequately wet spring.

Some farmers have already picked their first crops. Others expect to have pick-your-own sales ready as early as the first two weeks in June.

The season is expected to extend until the middle of July.
